Carbon fiber parts for performance cars like the Audi RS6 and the BMW M6 are easy to order from the manufacturer catalog. However, I can never hope to earn enough money to buy and own a twin-turbo V8. I can, however, hope to own a Golf GTI or something along those lines in a coupe of years.
Good news for me and everybody else sitting in my shoes came today when APR Tuning announced a new carbon fiber air intake system that's both cool and multi-talented. Yes, this system matches every compact MQB car current in production with an EA888 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter TSI engine. Applications thus include the Audi A3 and S3, the SEAT Leon family, more than a few Skoda Octavias and the Golf GTI and R. Coupes, wagons, soft-roaders and hot hatches, everything is up for grabs here, though we suspect most people who will order it own a GTI or a Leon FR.Nifty!

APR says that with requirements set forth for only supporting factory power output levels, low engine sound levels and long service intervals, there is plenty of room for improvement. If you don't mind a throatier note coming into the cabin, they're great. And since you've ordered a bigger engine, you probably don't.

The inherent stiffness of carbon fiber composite material results in an induction resonance from the engine allowing the occupants to hear a clean and crisp intake note without being overbearing or cheap sounding in nature.

The carbon filters are not only nice to look at, but they also feature a high pressure inlet snorkel, directional turbulence chamber and reduced surface roughness.
