BMW’s cooperation with Apple is very well known, especially amongst owners. That’s perfectly emphasized by the huge support for a wide variety of apps purchased from the iTunes store. Apple’s products benefit from the best support when it comes to BMWs.
Of course, there’s also support for Android and Blackberry owners but nowhere as close as for the Cupertino-developed products. This week the Apple Watch was launched and BMW apparently already has an app ready for it.

It’s the BMW i App that is already available for BMW i3 and i8 owners but on their smartphones. In the future, apparently, they will also be able to use it via their wrist watches, if they decide to drop their time pieces and go for the gadget sold by Apple.

The same features will be available as on the iPhone, including checking the range left on the batteries, the charge level, if the doors are locked, the ability to pre-heat the car and so on. Some new features might also be expected to tempt the BMW crowd to buy the new gadget.

However, one does ask himself if it’s really worth the trouble. The watch alone costs $350, a lot for what it offers. Furthermore, if you can get the exact same app on your phone, why would you also need it on your ‘next-gen watch’?

To top it all up, we know for a fact that BMW drivers usually have expensive or rare watches that they prefer to wear and it’s unlikely that they will go for Apple’s product, even if it's gold plated.
