In a recent interview for 60 Minutes, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has left some room for speculation when asked if Apple is considering developing a car.
Everybody knows Apple for its hardware products, but according to this recent interview, the Cupertino-based company might also become known for developing a car. Nobody is certain when this might happen, but the Apple car is coming.

When asked about his company’s automotive plans, Cook simply laughed and replied, “One of the great things about Apple is we probably have more secrecy here than the CIA,Time reports.

This is not the first time when we hear about Apple developing a car, though. A few months earlier, The Wall Street Journal published a report about the company’s plans to deliver its first electric vehicle by 2019.

Rumor has it that Apple’s first car won’t be a fully autonomous one, but a real competitor for BMW i or Tesla. Of course, the possibility of a driverless car is not out of the discussion, as the company is already developing the technology for making it possible.

Early this year, Tim Cook met with officials of California’s Department of Motor Vehicles and discussed regulations for testing a self-driving car on public streets.

It’s not an easy thing to build a car when you’re mostly known for developing smartphones, tablets, laptops or computers. Also, another problem is that most car companies build their vehicles in their own factories, and Apple doesn't have one.

It is not yet known if the company has found a car maker to partner with, but according to the same report, in the previous months, Apple tripled the size of its 600-person team working on its concept car called “Titan.”

This news comes after, not so long ago, Samsung - Apple’s main rival - announced it would begin developing parts for self-driving and Internet-connected cars, so it isn’t so unlikely to see a “battle” between these two giant companies on the auto market as well, in the near future.
