Apple Is Working on iCar Tesla Fighter

If you haven’t heard the news, Tesla is hiring Apple IT specialists? Why? Because both businesses kinda think the same and Tesla’s cars rely on software to function. But don’t start rubbing your head, at least not until you’ll find out Apple hiring Tesla engineers. Yep, your favorite phone maker is most probably working on a car.
Sounds a bit strange for Apple to switch that abruptly, skip other iStuff and create an iCar, but everything points in that direction. And if you still believe it’s a bit odd, don’t forget that Tesla’s founder and mentor Elon Musk comes too from the world of the Internet as co-founder of PayPal.

Everything started with an Apple employee who wrote that the company is working on something that “will give Tesla a run for its money.” On that bombshell, Bryan Chaffin of The Mac Observer decided to do his own research and according to his findings there’s an 80 percent probability that the iCar is in the works.

“I should add that when I asked one of my sources flat out to put a percentage chance on Apple working on an actual car—rather than some kind of car-related technology—I was told, ‘80 percent.’ When coupled with everything I've learned since, I'm personally closer to 100 percent.”

How will the iCar be?

We doubt Apple started from scratch with this project. If you ask us, we’d say it will rely on the technology already used by Tesla, especially since the latter has made its patents royalty free and anyone can benefit from them.

What Apple should bring to the recipe is the design as well as the software that runs everything. The Apple CarPlay should be a standard feature on a Model S-like touchscreen infotainment system adorning a minimalist dashboard.

Expect the car’s design to be inspired by the company’s latest products. That’s best described by simple shapes, seamlessly assembled interior panels, no visible screws, matte and glossy trimmings as well as a color palette inspired by the same devices.

It should be an interesting rivalry between the two if the iCar is really going into production. However, we’ll stick to Tesla for the moment. Remember what happened with each new Apple product?

Yep, they “crashed” a lot. Other than that, the body panels will tend to bend quite easily, Bono albums could be already in the music storage, it will be more expensive than whatever Google might offer in this domain, the maps will take you nowhere and you’ll also never reach that destination because the battery will be depleted halfway there.
