Steve Wozniak - or simply "Woz" - is best know for his involvement in a company called Apple, which he co-founded together with his friend, Steve Jobs. Nowadays he's also an electric car enthusiast, and a big fan of road trips.
He has owned a few cars in his life, but some time ago he made the switch from a Prius to a fully electric vehicle. Luckily for him, it was a Tesla Model S, so he got a pretty good introduction into the world of EVs.

Far from us to suggest that being unhappy with a Model S in unheard of - even though it kind of is - but Steve's online activity early September this year was rather strange. He had had the opportunity to test drive a Chevrolet Bolt, and he was clearly very impressed with the vehicle.

So much so, in fact, that he proclaimed he would trade in his Model S for a Bolt when the Chevy eventually was to come to market. A lot of people found his reaction surprising and wanted to know more about what stood behind his decision, and Woz was more than happy to oblige. Countless comments on his Facebook page followed, with Steve taking the time to respond to the more relevant ones.

Just as the Bolt is beginning to roll out, Wozniak bought a new Tesla Model S. Actually, it was his wife, Janet, who did it, but he doesn't seem too upset about it. However, he hasn't given up on the idea of owning a Bolt as well: “I’m still considering the Bolt. It had a lot of things nicer about it than the Tesla. But I’m concerned about how it would work on our favored road trips. So far, Tesla’s the only game in town for that.”

It looks like the Supercharger network played a heavy role in their decision, as did the fact the Bolt is limited to a 50 kW charging speed. That kind of renders its impressive range useless when going on those long journeys. Well, there's always room for the Bolt as a daily driver, but that old tesla will have to go as there appears to be no room left in the garage.
