Apple CarPlay Users Come Across New Bug That Breaks Navigation

The Google-owned traffic navigation app Waze is one popular choice on Apple’s CarPlay too, as it helps find a faster route to your destination in crowded cities, but every once in a while, there are people complaining of various issues that more or less break down the entire experience.

This is the case with a new notification glitch in Waze on CarPlay, which causes the alerts to be displayed right in the place where the GPS directions should normally be.

In other words, navigation directions are no longer displayed, as the notification generated by Waze for reports like police, potholes, red light cameras, and things like that no longer go away.

Of course, tapping the close button in the notification doesn’t make any difference, and there’s basically no way to get rid of the alert without disconnecting the iPhone in the first place.

This isn’t very convenient, especially when driving, so the only way to go is to fix the bug in some way or another. For now, there’s not much to do, other than sending feedback to Waze, as the options to fix bugs are much more limited in Apple’s walled garden..

The bug first appeared on CarPlay in my car several months ago in early 2020, but it then went away all by itself without me doing anything. In other words, this glitch could come and go without any action on your side, although it goes without saying that a fix to prevent the whole thing from happening would be more than welcome.

And of course, those encountering the issue have already tried the generic workarounds like rebooting their phones and reinstalling Waze on the iPhones, but all these things made no difference with the notification still blocking the GPS instructions that show up on the screen of the car.
