As a racing driver, you will sometimes need to leave the loud and thrilling racing environment and clear your mind by driving something more peaceful.
British racing driver Anthony Davidson did this recently, as he stepped from its high-performance hybrid Toyota TS030 endurance car into a 2013 Toyota Auris Hybrid to take it on a spin.
Spending some time behind the new Auris’ wheel, Anthony finds it a bit weird, as the car is dead silent in EV mode, but it also comes with race oriented performance. The car’s improved steering and suspension system enables it to go faster and more precise around the bends.
Powered by a 1.8-liter petrol engine paired with an electric motor, Davidson finds some similarities between the family hatchback and the LeMans Toyota racing hybrid. While it won’t match the racer’s brute force and handling, it sure gives a hint on them as both vehicles shares the technology at some level.
