Another Study Says Toyota Trucks Offer Best Value in Truckland

Some cars are just a black hole that suck away money from their owners while their reselling value drops considerably each year. Many think that all they have to do is raise enough money to finally buy a new car, but few are thinking about how it will cost to own it each year. Gas, maintenance, taxes and the vehicle depreciation in time will make sure you will continue to throw away money out of your pocket.

But in case you’re looking to buy a truck, the Toyota Tacoma will at least spare you the part with depreciation and maintenance. A recent study conducted by Used Car Guide from the National Automobile Dealers Association show that after three years of ownership, the Tacoma is typically worth 80.7 percent of its initial purchase price.

And that’s not all, because the study reveals the 4Runner model comes second with a 79.8 value retain percentage while the big Tundra comes third with 71.6 percent.

These percentages are based on the most common trim level sold and a three-month average trade-in value divided by the vehicle’s original MSRP excluding incentives and rebates.

The cheapest Tacoma you can get now is the Regular Cab version fitted with a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine sending power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. It’s available at $18,125 and it comes with standard features like the STAR safety system, side curtain and seat-mounted side airbags as well as a tire pressure monitoring system.
