Another Major Android Auto Bug Now in Google’s Crosshairs

Users now hopeful a new Android Auto fix would land rather sooner than later 1 photo

It’s not easy to be an Android Auto user these days, as pretty much every little change can break down the app and wreak havoc in your car.
And when it comes to updates, installing them is more or less a Russian roulette, as they can very well work just fine for some but cause quite a mess for others.

The latest updates, for example, are now blamed for connection problems by some users. Google itself has confirmed it’s looking into the whole thing to figure out what exactly is happening.

At this point, the reports in this regard are rather scarce and contain little information, with users simply complaining that Android Auto can no longer run after the smartphone is connected to their head units. These problems seem to be plaguing both wired and wireless connections, and in most cases, the latest update for Android Auto is the one blamed for the whole thing.

Some claim that while Android Auto actually launches, it continuously connects and disconnects for absolutely no reason.

My Android Auto just keeps disconnecting and reconnecting when connected wireless, with USB it starts up plays music for a few seconds then goes to a black screen with wording if I want to use AA stop my car and check my phone,” one user explains.

The good news is Google is already investigating the problem, but of course, it’s too early to tell if a fix is on its way or not.

Thanks for reporting this issue. We forwarded this issue to the rest of the team. We'll update with more information when it's available. Thanks!” a member of the Android Auto posted a few hours ago.

No workaround is known to exist for impacted users, but those who are confident the latest Android Auto version is causing the connection problems can just downgrade to a previous release. Doing this comes down to downloading the APK installer from this page and then manually installing it on the device.
