You don’t need to organise a country-wide debut event to figure out there will always be guests who complain. Handling a wedding will teach you that. However, one Tesla Model X buyer was so unhappy with the electric crossover’s launch earlier this week that he decided to write an open letter to Elon Musk.
Meet Stewart Alsop, one of the 30,000 folks who paid Tesla $5,000 in order to reserve a Model X. The man describes himself as a “Venture capital investor looking for companies that other VCs think are too hard or too early.”
Oh and he also attends launch parties. Especially that of the Model X. As for his non-interests, these include waiting too long for the event to kick off.
Nevertheless, the man, who published his letter here, seemed to have been annoyed in particular by the microscopic chance of getting behind the wheel of a Model X.
“I feel like I was misled and mistreated. I had been handed a badge that would let me test drive the model, but my badge number was 1,344. If you started the event one hour and 22 minutes late, I could only imagine that having 1,343 people in front of me to test drive a Model X would have kept me there until, I don’t know, 2:00 AM. I made a tactical decision to give up early without ever actually seeing a Model X,” Alsop explains.
The man might have exited the Model X stage, but he doesn’t plan to give up on his $130,000 investment. But what does he expect on the company’s side?
"I never did see the Model X. I still really want one. It’s doors open like this [check out the clip below]! It’s a computer, disguised as a beautiful car, just like I want. It probably won’t matter that you screwed up this event completely. It would still be nice if you showed some class and apologized to the people who believe in this product,” the Tesla customers said.
Elon Musk must’ve taken notice of the letter via Twitter by now, but we have yet to see an official response.
Then again, it’s difficult to fully trust Stewart Alsop’s non-attention-grabbing intentions. We’re saying this because we are dealing with a man who likes to give interviews (check out the second video below) about how he repeatedly pissed off Steve Jobs, while also mentioning his friendship with Bill Gates.
