Everybody who’s ever worked in a cubical know that sometimes you feel like taking the frustration you have built up inside you and turning it against an inanimate object like your keyboard, screen, printer or phone. We have video proof that this way of thinking has some larger scale applications, and it’s not some sort of deleted scene or Youtuber wanting a million hits for putting his mobile phone in a blender.
Aptera Motors was an electric upstart company that never really made it past the point of novelty item creator. They had envisioned a three-wheeled EV with seating for two and looks borrowed from light aircraft. But it recently announced that their vision of the future won’t become reality as the company ran out of money and had to give up on the dream.
But the dream and their hard work wasn’t as easy to give up on for Aptera’s employees, as four videos of them destroying the prototype EV is creating quite the stir on Youtube right now. The videos show an unnamed employee crushing body shells of the teardropped machine.
According to the Aptera press release, they had received received a Conditional Commitment Letter for a $150-million Advance Technology Vehicle Manufacturing (ATVM) loan, which they had to match to their own money to develop a five-seater midsize sedan the size of the Toyota Camry. But no private investor was willing to put up the money.
