They married in August and are still considered one of the most beautiful Hollywood couples, but their honeymoon is all about work. Angelina Jolie and hubby Brad Pitt have been staying busy on the beautiful island of Malta lately. They are currently working on their first project together since Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, the movie that got them together from the first place.
They might care about their privacy, considering their marriage ceremony in France on August 23rd was quite discreet, but the paparazzi won’t stop chasing the couple when it comes to business. And that is pretty much what they’ve been up to in Malta for the last months.

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith stars were seen filming scenes in a classic Citroen DS convertible in Gozo, an island of the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, on Monday, with Brad behind the wheel and Angelina in the passenger seat. Not that we don’t love these people and their acting, but let us take a closer look to this car for a second.

The Citroen DS, a car for the filming industry

Now, as far as we can tell from the pictures we’re talking about a DS 19 model, somewhere around the end of the 1950s - begining of the 1960s, which is pretty much one of the most glorious years for the car. Citroen’s mid-size car was manufactured and marketed by the French company from 1955 to 1975 in sedan, wagon/estate and convertible body configurations.

The model was considered as the ground-breaking game-changer of the time as it came with new features, such as its aerodynamic futuristic body design and innovative technology. The DS set new standards in ride quality, handling and braking. Citroen sell nearly 1.5 million D-series during the model’s existence.

Really good suspension

There is one feature that totally relates with the car Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are using in their movie scene. You see, the Citroen DS is also renown for its hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension which allowed the car to be one of the most stable vehicles in the industry.

This is why the DS has been used in many film and television productions, including as camera cars for horse races. This is also the reason the crew chose it for the movie, apart for its vintage flavor of course.

As to the independent movie the famous actors are shooting, By The Sea documents the challenge a longtime married couple face as they go on vacation throughout Europe in the 1970s.
