Currently it’s a bit chilly in Molsheim, France, so Bugatti decided to kick off the Chiron Pur Sport festivities with the first customer delivery that took place in the United States and a launch organized somewhere sunny... such as Dubai. For Andy Wallace, Bugatti's resident record holder and chief test pilot, that wasn’t good enough, so he took a yellow example on a fun trip up mountain roads.
Just as a reminder, we recently brought you the news of the world’s first Chiron Pur Sport delivery taking place in the United States, with the example dressed up in a unique attire made of a combination of Quartz White and Grey Carbon.
The first of just 60 units to be produced as part of the series was also dressed up in Italian Red leather inside, something that could be seen from outside through the optional Sky View.
Elsewhere, Bugatti was busy with the Chiron Pur Sport launch in Dubai, which also brought us a bit of high-end vlogging courtesy of Supercar Blondie (her video is also embedded below if you’re a fan). But, most of all, the company also gave the keys to a Jaune Molsheim/Carbon example of the Pur Sport to Andy Wallace.
And we’re always suckers for such encounters, since Wallace does get to play a lot with just about everything wearing the Bugatti logo – be it a modern Divo, a classic Type 35, or even the Bugatti Baby II. Now, imagine that: Wallace, a desert-matching Chiron, and the Hatta inland exclave of the Emirate of Dubai high in the Hajar mountains. That’s a cool combination.
Besides, the Chiron Pur Sport is no stranger to high-altitude winding roads as Bugatti recently showcased the 1,479-hp monster also checking up the Appennini Mountains in Italy (and we have that video embedded below as well).
On this occasion, the Chiron Pur Sport basked in the sun of Hatta, which is about 100 km (62 miles) south-east of Dubai, up in the Hajar mountains and close to the border with Oman.
It was great marketing material, naturally, since the winding roads are the perfect showcase for the series’ driving characteristics, which include “maximum agility, handling and driving performance. Ideal for fast cornering.” At least on this occasion, we do agree with the assessment.
