In other words, nobody knows what Android Auto 7.2 is supposed to do, though, on the other hand, everybody believes it includes bug fixes and additional polishing for the overall experience.

Without official release notes, however, our only option is to wait and figure out on our own what’s new in this update. And as it turns out, more and more people are spotting a bug fix that’s good news for devices updated to Android 12.

If you have already installed this new version of the operating system on your mobile phone, you probably know already the experience with Android Auto hasn’t been the most refined. This is because several features ended up being broken, with some users complaining that not even launching the app works properly.

One of the most widespread glitches, however, concerned the notifications. Users running Android Auto on Android 12 devices complained here in Google’s forums that no text notifications go through after the app launches, and it’s believed the new OS version was the culprit.

But as it turns out, the debut of Android Auto 7.2 brings things back to normal. Given the rollout of the update is still in its early days, we’re still waiting for confirmation from more users that notifications are working again.

On the other hand, several Android 12 users have confirmed that notifications are working again on Android Auto thanks to this update, so there’s a chance some fixes on this front have indeed been included in the latest release.

If you still haven’t received the latest Android Auto update, you can download the 7.2 APK version and install it manually on your device. This way, you can jump straight to Android Auto 7.2 without waiting for the Google Play Store rollout to reach your phone.
