Custom motorcycles usually have something artsy about them, whether it's the paint scheme or more intricate fabrications, but when it comes the other way around, things become truly spectacular. Ian Barry is an artist which thought of reinterpreting motorcycle design through an artist's lens and The White is one of his works, currently on display at the Michael Kohn Gallery in LA.
The resulting machine is a true work of art: complex and minimalist at the same time, boasting a different approach for the chassis from what most of us are used to, The White is magnificently described by Barry himself with an enumeration of the materials he used: "Acrylic, 7075 + 6061 T6 aluminum, brass, cloth, chromally, copper, enamel, epoxy, glass, light-emitting diodes, leather, magnesium, nickel, pyrex, rubber, silver, springs, stainless mesh, stainless steel, steel, titanium."
So much more than the sum of its components, The White is as supple a built as it looks almost menacing, with its shapes evoking some Pitch Black or Starship Troopers symbolism. The engine is a stock Velocette Venom Thruxton "Squish head" dating from 1967, breathing through GP carburetors. Borrani rims and Avon rubber complete this stunning shiny machine.
