Yesterday we showed you a neat video of the BMW S1000XR in action along twisting roads so you could enjoy the smooth sound of this 160 hp beast. Today we have prepared a huge high-resolution photo gallery to help you decide upon the new motorcycle you plan to get.
Many articles on this bike have been published already since the S1000XR was revealed at EICMA 2014, so it's rather hard to come up with something new. However, for those who discover this elite sport-adventure machine only now, we'll say once more that it is powered by a re-tuned version of the S1000RR engine, with lower power for better maneuverability. The peak power and torque rpm zones have also been lowered, offering a better feel in casual riding scenarios.

Electronics play a major role in riding the S1000XR

The all-new S1000XR is a masterpiece of electronic systems integration. BMW provides two riding modes as standard, Rain and Road, as well as Automatic Stability Control. However, choosing the optional Pro feature introduces Dynamic and Dynamic Pro riding modes, as well as Dynamic Traction Control and ABS Pro features.

Other cool options include the Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) for electronically-controlled suspensions that respond to the road conditions for improved ground tracking and a smooth, comfortable ride. The ABS Pro allows riders to avoid wheel locking even when braking hard in a turn, providing a much safer response to panic braking in a wide variety of riding scenarios.

At just north of $16,000 (€14,100, US price) for the base model, the 2015 BMW S1000XR represents a strong competitor for the Ducati Multistrada and the rest of the bikes in the new sport-adventure segment. Seeing the sale figures this year will be a most interesting thing and we're waiting anxiously because everybody knows it's game on.
