And it's this last quality that we are going to talk about. Even though Nissan never wanted the vehicle to be modified, the GT-R is one of the favorite children of the tuning world.
The freshest modification package for the vehicle comes from AMS Performance. The American tuning house has developed the Alpha 9 modification kit for the GT-R. But what is so special about the project? Well, the company took the pumped-up Godzilla to the drag strip and managed to achieve a 10s time for the quarter mile run (10.1 seconds at 138 mph). The feat can bee seen in the video bellow.
The time was achieved while the vehicle was running on stock, pump gas. The tuner claims that the car is capable of achieving a 9s time, when running on racing fuel!
But let’s see how AMS Performance’s specialists played with the GT-R 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 powerplant, which delivers 485 hp when it leaves the factory. The list of modifications includes upgraded billet wheel ball bearing turbochargers (together with new inlet pipes), a 90 mm exhaust system, a front mount intercooler upgrade, a new calibration for MAF sensors, high-flow intake pipes with performance air filters supplied by K&N and an ECU remap. Customers can also choose the optional modified catalytic converters and a racing mid-pipe. Dyno test have shown that the modified unit produces between 650 and 710 hp at the wheel.
The AMS Performance Alpha 9 kit for the Nissan GT can be yours for $21,999.
