American Couple Is Too Drunk to Drive, Has Nine-Year-Old Take Them Home

Where do they find these people? Hearing about stuff like this, you can only wonder why making children isn’t a much more complicated activity, so that any reckless, lazy moron won’t be able to do it by accident.

We’ve all been drunk, haven’t we? Well, most of us, at least. And we’ve all done stupid things while the vapors of alcohol were having a ball with our brains. Yet, even when dead-drunk, there is a certain line you never allow yourself to cross, and that implies the safety of yourself, your close ones and everyone else around you.

This couple (a mother and her boyfriend) identified as Amanda Eggert and James Roth from Wisconsin are now facing charges of neglect and second-degree recklessly endangering safety after they got so inebriated that they allowed a nine-year-old, Amanda’s daughter, to drive them home. You think, for some reason, that’s not bad enough? No problem, the two have got you covered: an 11-month-old baby was also found strapped into the car (a pickup truck, obviously).

This is wrong on so many levels, we don’t even know where to begin. For one thing, why the hell did they get wasted away from home while having the two children with them? It doesn’t take a lot of foresight to realize you’re going to have to get back home at some point, so a plan B would have helped. That is unless this wasn’t plan B all along.

Police was alerted by reports of a truck swerving in and out of the oncoming lane for several miles. When the police finally caught up with the truck after it pulled into a public boat launch, Jeff Hahn, the deputy on the scene, could see the nine-year-old girl jump out of the truck while it was still moving.

Fox29 aired a small fragment of the police officer's court deposition, and this is what he said: “As the nine-year-old exited the truck, it was still running and in drive when Mr. Roth was sitting in the truck by himself. He turned the ignition off and the truck began rolling backward down the hill towards the river. I jumped into the truck to hit the brakes and put the truck in park.

Both adults have denied the accusations and have pled not guilty, so they continue to remain in jail expecting a trial. In the meantime, the two children are staying with extended families.
