AMA Pro Homolagtion for Double Dog Moto Exoskeleton Race Tails

Having been under development ever since the 2009 season, when AMA regulations have banned carbon fiber, the non-carbon composite monocoques from Double Dog Moto have finally received approval from the AMA. These world-first Composite Exoskeleton tails replace regular metal subframes and cowlings with one structural monocoque.

Available now for Ducati, RSV4, S1000RR, Yamaha R1, and soon GSX-R1000 and CBR1000RR, the Double Dog Moto Composite Exoskeleton tails are reportedly price competitive with regular metal subframes plus cowlings.

“We are very excited to make this announcement and also very proud of the expertise we have developed in this specialized industry here in the USA. It’s very satisfying after all the hard work to launch a world-first product that is not only AMA legal, but affordable for the club racer and street rider. We’ll soon be making an official announcement with quotes from some of the top AMA Superbike and Daytona Sportbike racers about results of their own tests. That should raise a few ‘old guard’ eyebrows!”
said President and chief engineer, Mark Henry.

Double Dog Moto engineers have applied the technology they developed in layering metal and carbon fiber for extreme strength/weight ratios to more economical non-carbon composite monocoques, using glass fiber and Kevlar instead of carbon fiber.

“Apart from the lighter weight and tougher ‘crashability’, high level racers love the increased chassis feedback from a tail that is incredibly stiff, with basically zero flex to filter out vital information. We predict a lot of AMA teams will switch to the Composite Exoskeleton tails once word gets out about test results, and hopefully that will translate into strong interest from club racers and street riders by the end of 2011. It’s going to be an exciting year for everyone, including our competition!” Henry added.
