Aftermarket head units allow us to install Android Auto and CarPlay in pretty much any vehicle out there, and finding a model that fits our car shouldn’t be too hard.
But if you want a head unit that has a humongous display, there’s just one option: the brand-new Alpine Halo11.

This new multimedia receiver announced by Alpine this week comes with an 11-inch floating touchscreen display, and it’s part of the Halo family that debuted in 2018.

Known officially as iLX-F411 Alpine Halo11, this head unit is said to offer 49 percent bigger screen estate than the 9-inch model, so overall, the user experience should be substantially improved. And best of all, the floating design means you won’t lose your HVAC controls, regardless of your car model.

The single-DIN receiver doesn’t come with a CD or DVD player, but instead, it sports an HDMI input and output, thus allowing you to connect external units and even smartphones.

However, when it comes to mobile connectivity, the best way to go is Android Auto and CarPlay, both of which are supported with a wired connection.

The Halo11 comes with a rearview RCA camera input with distance guide display, support for steering wheel remote controls, integrated Bluetooth for wireless connections, and one USB port. The latter allows you to plug in a flash drive and listen to your favorite music without the need for connecting the mobile phone.

Needless to say, the receiver is also ready for advanced car audio systems, so it supports a 5-band parametric equalizer and a 6-channel time correction tool with a built-in amplifier. You get three sets of 4V preamp outputs and a subwoofer level control on the third set.

All of these can’t come cheap, though at the end of the day, having such a humongous head unit in your car really pays off, especially for things like navigation and the media experience. The new Halo11 is available for $999 in the United States.
