The Alpina B6 Biturbo is the elegant choice to the brutal BMW M6. The engineers from the German tuner knew exactly what they were doing when they released this classic 6er on the street of the world, recognizing the dominant position of the M6 that was never questioned.
When the B6 was taken to the Nurburgring, it managed to prove to the world exactly what we stated earlier. Around the Hockenheim, it managed to surpass the 650i's time by almost 2 seconds and fell behind the M6 by just 1.4 seconds, finishing in 1.14,6 minutes.

It's not even remotely surprising, since Alpina's creation is based on the same engine found in the 650i, the N63 4.4-liter V8 bi-turbo unit that develops 402 HP and 600 Nm (440 lb-ft) of torque (that's stock).

Measuring the power levels of the B6, you'll find numbers close to those of the M6. The amount of HP going to the rear wheels adds up to 540 HP (just 20 HP shy of the S63 engine) and the torque is rated at 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) which is a serious 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) more than the fastest BMW around.

With that kind of numbers behind it, the B6 is dangerously fast and even threatening for the M6. The top speed of the Alpina model is 320 km/h (200 mph) whilst the Bimmer is electronically limited to 300 km/h (187.5 mph). When it comes to acceleration, the latter wins in every category, reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster. Going up to 200 km/h (125 mph) the difference reaches 1.1 seconds.

The Alpina is a perfectly good car for everyday use, but then so is the M6. Even though its a super sporty car, you can also use it around town and while picking your kid up from school. The B6 can also do all those things whilst being a lot more gracious and elegant at the same time.

Bottom line, the Alpina is a worthy alternative to the M6. The twin turbo engine delivers great performance while also allowing you to travel up to 100 km (62 miles) on just 11.2 liters (21 mpg) which is definitely not bad for a car that is possible of such performance. Furthermore, the classic Alpina body kit and wheel design will definitely stand out more than the M6, no matter how new and exciting it is.
