Talking about rare BMW, you definitely should bring up all the Alpina cars. These modified Bimmers are so good, they have their own VIN numbers. They are so exclusive, when you meet one you definitely should tell everybody you know.
The guys from Autogespot.com caught up with one rare Alpina car in the Belgian city of Diksmuide. The one they saw was a Red Alpina B5 Touring, and a very well kept one too.

The B5 was based on the 550i version of the E60 5er but Alpina decided to give it some extra oomph. The 4.4-liter V8 engine, codename N62, delivered 367 HP and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) of torque on the stock 5er. On the B5 model, the same engine delivered 500 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. That's a big increase and close to what we have on current-day F10 cars.

Those were just the engine numbers that made the B5 unique, not to mention the exterior and interior design changes. You can see Alpina trademark features everywhere, from the wheels to the front bumper and the stitching on the seats.

A great spot and a real pleasure to see one of these beauties in such a good shape rolling down the European streets nearly 7 years after it was pulled out of production.
