More and more guests for the tuning party that will be thrown at this year’s Geneva Auto Show are being announced and it is now time to talk about the BMW Alpina B5 Biturbo Touring, which will make its debut at the event.
The station wagon incarnation of the B5 Biturbo will offer the same powertrain as the sedan. This means that we’ll get a 507 hp and 700 Nm twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 unit, which works with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
While the sedan needs 4.7 seconds to cover the 0 to 62 mpg sprint and offers a top speed of 191 mph (307.5 km/h), the “family man” version is estimated to need 4.8 seconds for the 0 to 62 mph game and offer a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h).
“The finely honed balance between athleticism, comfort and every-day luxury that has defined ALPINA automobiles for decades reaches a new dimension in the BMW ALPINA B5 Bi-Turbo,” a company statement reads.
“Five different generations of 5 Series-based ALPINA automobiles have been developed in the last 35 years, revealing to those in the know a unique and exclusive driving experience. The sixth generation draws from the finest ingredients of past generations to offer a mouth-watering driving experience for the most demanding drivers of high performance luxury cars.”
autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
