Before Alpina launched the new B5 Biturbo model on the market, and by new we mean the LCI version, they had to test it to see if it rises up to their expectations.
If other models might not be seriously affected by a facelift, in case of the B5 things are a bit different because of what BMW decided to do with the engine.

The B5 Biturbo is based on the 550i model that, for the LCI, received a power increase of 50 HP and that posed a problem for Alpina, that had to develop a new version, using the revised 4.4-liter V8.

They came up with a car that has 540 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque and does 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 278 km/h (174 mph).

The exhaust now comes from Akrapovic and you can listen to that beautiful V8 burble in the video below, captured during one of the test runs of the new car, before its official release. If you want one for yourself, check out Alpina’s configurator to see which is best for your needs.
