US aftermarket developer Alpha seems to be determined to move far past the Nissan GT-R packages that built their reputation and their latest development is a project based on the Mercedes brand.
The M157 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 has become the Alpha 9 BiTurbo, a monster that promises to play somewhere in between 750 and 900 hp, depending on the gas used. As fot the torque, this is pumped up to 800 lb-ft (1,085 Nm).
To achieve this, Alpha went past the usual turbo upgrade, which includes a a larger compressor wheel being placed inside the factory turbo housing. Thus, Alpha developed their own billet compressor wheel.
The company promises that it has engineered its hardware, so that the drivability and fuel efficiency stay the same.
All the AMG models that use the aforementioned engine benefit from the kit. This include the
E63 AMG, CL and CLS63 AMG, G and GL63 AMG, ML63 AMG, SL63 AMG from the 2012MY onwards, as well as the S63 AMG from the 2011MY onwards.
In addition, the package will also be available for the 550 models from the 2012MY onwards.
