Alonso Thinks Ferrari F10 Will Adapt Perfectly in China

Fernando Alonso looks at the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix with confidence, despite the recent reliability issues experienced in the late stages of the Malaysian race last weekend. While assured by his team that his engine failure last Sunday was only a one-off, the Spaniard was overwhelmed by the pace of his Ferrari F10 on the Sepang track.

Apart from the fact that the Malaysian venue was not exactly suited for the characteristics of the F10, the Spaniard also competed through the entire race with a broken clutch, making his surge from 21st (after the first corner) to 8th place (until his engine failed) even more valuable.

Regarding the race in Malaysia, we were competitive. The track in Sepang had different characteristics as compared to the other two before (Bahrain and Australia) and the F10 managed to do well. We still need to take better care of the tires in qualifying, but we managed to have a good pace in the race,” said Alonso on his personal blog.

I think the F10 will adapt very well to the characteristics of the Shanghai circuit and there's no reason why we can't be optimistic,” added the Spanish driver.

Additionally, the 2-time world champion emphasized the importance of scoring podiums race in and race out, as the points gathered in the opening stages of the season – when all teams are trying to find their balance in the championship – will count a lot in the title fight.

In the next few races we need to finish on the podium on every occasion. By placing ourselves inside the Top 3 every race we'll be in a better position to fight for the title,” added Alonso.

The Spaniard's last win at Shanghai dates back to 2005, when he was competing for Renault. In recent years, Ferrari have been a constant podium contender in China, except for last season, when Red Bull recorded their first 1-2 in history ahead of Brawn GP's Jenson Button.

As reported by us earlier today, Alonso's car will be fitted with a brand new powerplant in China, as his last unit broke down in Malaysia. This will be the 4th engine used by the Spaniard in 4 races this season.
