Alonso Optimistic about British Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso is bullish on his chances to stay in the title fight for the 2010 Formula One season, despite his disappointing outing in the European Grand Prix, at Valencia. Walking away from the Spanish city with only 4 points, although Ferrari had debuted its much-awaited B version of their F10 challenger, the 2-time world champion believes the Silverstone track will better suit the Ferrari car.

We are ready, both on the technical front and physically. In Valencia, we introduced significant updates on the F10 and there will be more in Silverstone and the races after that,” said Alonso, revealing that the Scuderia has prepared a new update for the British Grand Prix.

The development programme is intensive and I think we will see it produce results. We have also prepared very carefully from the physical point of view, given that the next events are all very close and one needs to be at a hundred percent all the time,” added the Spaniard in his column for Ferrari's website.

Although the Silverstone circuit is known to suit better the McLarens than the Ferraris – at least in recent years – Alonso insisted that the fast corners of the circuit, as well as the slightly changed layout that will greet the F1 field this weekend might fall in the hands of the F10.

The track seems reasonably similar to the way it was, with a lot of very fast corners, which will not suit us that much. However, it's a fact that the configuration of the F10 seen in Valencia should give us a boost in these quick corners, so it is best to wait and see where we will be: I remain optimistic,” added Alonso, who also admitted that he would like rain to become a factor once again on the British track.
