Alonso Makes Second Visit to Maranello

Fernando Alonso made his second semi-official visit at the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, as reported by the Scuderia's official site on Thursday. The Spaniard looks set to gain the confidence of his new team, as he cannot officially join the Ferrari technicians and mechanics until January 1st.

While still under contract with his former team Renault until the end of the calendar year, Alonso is not forbidden to visit the headquarters of the Italian team as long as he's not wearing Ferrari-logo clothing. During yesterday's visit, he took the opportunity to further watch the development line of the 2010 challenger and get in touch with his future mechanics.

Two very intense days for Fernando Alonso at his second semi-official visit in Maranello. The Spanish driver arrived yesterday morning at the Scuderia, where he proceeded, together with the technicians, to get to know the team and next year's programme. With a little spare time yesterday and today Fernando had the possibility to visit the works, where the cars from the Prancing Horse, for the road and for Formula 1, are made as well as the Ferrari,” said the Ferrari statement.

I have to gain the confidence of the team and begin a good relationship with the engineers and mechanics. That is what I am trying to do in these months, in order to arrive at the first race with a good understanding with the team so that we all feel comfortable together,” said Alonso after his visit, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

Before he left the Maranello headquarters, Alonso could not have missed the opportunity to do some laps on the Fiorano circuit, only with the 458 Italia and the 599 models.

For the red Formula 1 car we've still got to wait a bit!” added the Ferrari statement.
