Alonso Hits at Portuguese Paparazzi During Vacation

Fernando Alonso did not begin the year 2011 very well, at least from a media perspective. The 29-year old Spaniard had a controversial encounter with the Spanish-language media on his arrival to a small Portuguese island of Porto Santo.

Going there to spend some quality time with his wife Raquel del Rosario, Alonso told the media from the minute he got off his private jet that he doesn't want the paparazzi photographers to ruin his vacation. A video showed by the Portuguese television afterwards reveals Alonso establishing some ground rules with the photographers.

The first photographer or camera I see in the next days, I will leave the next day and tell everyone that Porto Santo is a disaster. OK? So please leave us alone,” warned Alonso, after which he gave a thumbs up to the local media.

Needless to say, Alonso and his wife were all over the news last weekend, all the stories being centered on his outburst at the paparazzi. According to some reports after the incident, the Ferrari driver did not stop there, but was even more aggressive on occasion.

This is not the first time Alonso showed his aggressive tendency towards the paparazzi, as his public outbursts at the photographers were quite common during his winning championship days at Renault, back in the mid-2000s.

The Ferrari-an will have his chance to improve his relationship with the media – the one in Italy, at least – in a few days, when Scuderia's Wrooom event kicks off in the Italian Dolomites, at the now famous Madonna di Campiglio ski resort.
