The Spaniard signed a 3-year deal with the Scuderia at the end of last season, meaning he and Massa will continue as a stable lineup until the end of 2012. This should mean at least two things: the two must learn to get along inside the Ferrari lineup and the 2012 season will see a fight for survival between them.
Alonso's future at Ferrari rests in the hands of the Italian team, as the Prancing Horse has the first option to extend his deal from 2012 onwards. “I think it has been useful to work on it, although we have not been able to exploit this work completely effectively.
