Alonso Frustrated with Worst Car Ever

Fernando Alonso admitted he has mixed feelings racing for Renault for the last in Formula One, at the Abu Dhabi finale. On the one hand, this is the team that gave him a rescue hand when he needed it the most – after the drama at McLaren – after previously helping him become double world champion and end the supremacy of Michael Schumacher in the sport.

On the other hand, however, Alonso publicly admitted that he is currently driving the worst Renault car in his career. Switching to a title winning team in 2010 will therefore be a great change for the Spaniard, as he is to conclude a winless season for the first time in years.

Renault, much like the other good teams in the F1 paddock, seem to have already switched focus on the 2010 machinery, which left Alonso frustrated and more eager to pack for Maranello.

We have at the moment one of the worst cars on the grid unfortunately -- or the worst car now, because Toro Rosso is in front of us, Force India is in front of us, and Williams and Toyota are in front of us,” said the Spaniard to the reporters at the Yas Marina Circuit, a few minutes after clinching a poor 16th place in the Saturday qualifying.

“I know that people think that I need to beat my teammate always by rule – but this is not mathematics. I have been beating for two years guys who are winning in GP2 and are champions in different categories. It's not that I am beating someone who arrived in formula one by luck.”

“I think they (Piquet and Grosjean) don't (shouldn't) suffer, I think they are doing a super job. For sure, if they were sitting in a Toyota now like Kobayashi, they might even be able to fight for a podium
,” added Alonso.
