Allison Teams Up with Sarah Fisher Racing for 2011 Indy 500

Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) will once again make the field in the historic Indianapolis 500 race of the IZOD IndyCar Series, thanks to a new sponsorship deal it signed with Allison Transmission Inc., the premier global provider of commercial duty and military fully automatic transmissions and hybrid propulsions systems.

The partnership was signed for the Indy 500 race only, and will see race driver Ed Carpenter take the wheel of the SFR-prepared challenger to the 100th running of the famous event.

Allison Transmission and the many people I know who work there continue to support me and all the members of my racing team,” said former IndyCar driver and current owner of the team Sarah Fisher. “It's a great feeling, and I appreciate Allison's sponsorship of our car this year. Everyone is looking forward to this year's Indianapolis 500.”

Sponsoring Sarah Fisher's No. 67 car and driver Ed Carpenter makes good sense for Allison Transmission,” added Lou Gilbert, Allison Transmission's Director of North American Marketing. “Over the years, we have all worked together in various community and customer related activities. We are especially happy to be a part of this historic 100th Anniversary Indianapolis Motor Speedway race.”

The Indy 500 is part of Sarah Fisher Racing's selected-races programme for the 2011 IndyCar Series, a season which will likely see the No 67 car on the grid of 9 events. After announcing her definitive retirement from the series in November last year, Fisher appointed Carpenter as new official race driver of the team.

The 9-event structure for 2011 is the most extended IndyCar programme set up by the organization so far, and has been secured thanks to sponsorship from Dollar General.
