The Mercedes GLS is supposed to come out right before the Los Angeles Auto Show that will host its debut. So we're not really surprised by the fact that leaked photos have found their way online.
Now, we're not saying these photos are fake… but they could very well be. You see, the blue model and the silver one with the sexier grille have the same number plate, which isn't normal. Also, the left taillight has a black edge that makes it look more three-dimensional than the left one, while the oval shape of the rear wheel is a little off. But maybe these visual defects are down to this being a photo of a brochure instead of a proper scan.

In the looks department, the GLS is just what we expected: a bigger version of the GLE. In fact, just by looking at the front end, we're hard-pressed to see what identified this as the big brother of the GL family. The S-Class of SUVs? Whom are we kidding?

Of course fans of the brand who like the GLE but need two extra seats will be very happy with what they're getting. They're going to set us straight by saying that the hood has extra grooves and the numerous vents in the grille bars are unique. We kind of like the new Mercedes crest, as it looks slightly more discrete, high-tech even.

According to the Mercedes build schedules, the GLS will begin being delivered early next year. The current GL models already have that all-new 3-liter twin-turbo V6. So we expect the headline grabbers to be a hybrid model or a GLS 500 with the latest 4-liter twin-turbo.

In the digital era, we wouldn't be surprised to see that this barge of an SUV is capable or parking itself or steering down a long Nevada highway without human intervention.

Either way, we're expecting more photos to come after these ones, which have been leaked by the Worldscoop forum.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
