If you think that a typical urban e-bike might not be enough for your commuting needs, but you also don’t want to commit to a more robust gravel bike, there’s a different option for you. The new Proxima e-bike was created as a powerful hybrid that can handle country roads while also being sleek enough to make its way through the city.
One of the youngest bicycle manufacturers in the U.S., Vvolt wants to make riding accessible to as many people as possible, not just in terms of costs, but also in terms of capabilities. Some just want an easy-going, beginner-friendly urban bike, others want to go off the beaten path, with an aggressive adventure bike, while others want a versatile model that offers high-performance without being too hard to handle.
Vvolt Proxima does exactly that, mainly by combining a mid-drive motor with a highly-resistant Enviolo CVT hub. This lightweight bike (it only weighs around 50 lbs./23 kg) comes with a 250w MPF mid-drive with 80 Nm of torque, and a 375wh Celxpert battery with LG cells. You can enjoy a range of up to 60 miles (96 km) on a single charge and a 20 mph (32 kph) top speed, which is suitable for urban environments.
But, thanks to the 40 mm (1.5-inch) tires, you can also wander off on unpaved roads. And you don’t need to worry about missed shifts, because all you need to do is twist the shifter and the Enviolo internal gear hub will transition to the gear you want. Plus, to match the drivetrain’s power, Vvolt also equipped Proxima with hydraulic brakes instead of cable brakes, stop that you can stop faster and not worry about extensive maintenance.
If you would like better control, just connect your phone to the Vvolt mobile app and customize the motor support for more or less output, by witching to one of the 4 levels of assistance.
For only $2,599, you get a flexible e-bike that’s durable and easy to maintain, but no less powerful than what you would like. Proxima is available for reservations and you can pick your favorite color (out of 3) and size.
