Last year, Volkswagen official let slip that the new Passat sedan would be followed in quick succession by Alltrack and CC variants. And it seems both are coming to Geneva this year, which should make every VW fan happy. These are the first two official sketches for the concept that will preview the next-gen CC four-door coupe model and we are impressed.
The lines are similar to the Passat, as they connected the flat grille with the headlights using geometric lines. The same design language was also seen on the Touareg facelift and probably on the CrossBlue concept. Which leads us to believe the people who design large VWs are different to those who made the Golf.
Tech-wise, all we know for sure is that it will be based on the MQB platform and should be significantly larger than the outgoing model. Volkswagen's new corporate plan is to target Mercedes and BMW rivals and offer cheaper prices for the options. That basically means the CC is going to be a CLS rival.
It may sound strange, but anybody who's driven a basic version of the Mercedes four-door coupe can tell you it's not magical. According to recent reports, Volkswagen has a six-cylinder TSI engine that works with MQB cars.
Like most German concepts, we expect a hybrid engine to power the CC concept into the Geneva Motor Show. What really amazes us is how many new VW models are coming out at the same tame: Sharan, Touran, Passat Alltrack and now this.
