Shortly after the launch of the sister model Volkswagen Sharan, SEAT has released today the first information and images of its all-new Alhambra MPV. The second-generation model is bigger than its predecessor, at 4,85 meters in length (22 centimeters longer). It is also 9 centimeters wider, so that passengers can enjoy a larger cabin.

The new Alhambra has up to seven seats on three rows, the third one being comfortable even for adults, SEAT claims. As the Sharan, with which it shares the underpinnings, the Alhambra sports a rear sliding door, for an easier access in the rear compartment. Luggage space is generous. With seating for five, the base volume is 885 liters, which grows to a maximum of 2,297 liters if only the front seats are in use.

The versatile seating concept makes life easier on board, with seating for five, six or seven, depending on need. When carrying larger items, the second and third-row seats can be sunk easily into the vehicle floor using the “Easy-Fold” system, so there is no need anymore to remove the seats.

The new Alhambra is powered by two TSI and two TDI units. The gasoline engines develop 150 and 200 horsepower, while the diesels offer 140 and 170 horsepower. The car features a stop/start system as standard and brake energy regeneration, features which contribute to low average fuel consumption. The most frugal unit is the entry-level diesel, with a EU rating of only 42.7 mpg (5.5 liters/100 km) and CO2 emissions of just 143 g/km. DSG dual-clutch transmission is offered as optional on all models.

The SEAT Alhambra will be produced in Palmela, Portugal, with market launch scheduled late this summer.
