The all-new Clio was a no-show at the Paris Motor Show, where everybody expected to see it. However, the supermini hatchback is still likely to be launched next year, as indicated by our spyshots.
Some of the camouflage covering the model has just been stripped away, and to our surprise, the Clio is beginning to look like its old self. To be more precise, the all-new generation has similar rear shoulders and glass.

Of course, it's not uncommon in this budget-minded segment for brand new models to be derived from older ones. Obvious examples include the Ford Fiesta and Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, although that Skoda Fabia you see at the end of the photo gallery is a Polo spinoff as well.

While a few elements might stay the same, Renault is doing everything it can to make the new Clio stand out in a crowd. This includes a brand new, much sportier front end with narrow headlights that seem to have Megane-like "monkey tail" LED signatures. Meanwhile, the taillights have a 3D effect.

As for the interior, it seems that a digital dashboard will be installed. However, Renault is still lagging behind the Germans in the infotainment and connectivity departments.

The French supermini should come out with all-new engines as well. The Clio GT should make an interesting comeback with a 1.3-liter turbo pushing around 150 horsepower. Meanwhile, the 0.9 should be replaced by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbo like basically, every other company has.

The 1.5 dCi will have an increasingly small role, as cities like Paris should ban diesel completely within the next car generation. However, with AdBlue, the 1.5-liter will still be relevant and compliant.

As for the Clio RS, it's still a couple of years off, but our gut feeling is that a 1.8 turbo with around 225 HP will take the place of the 1.6.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
