The all-new Passat sedan and estate models are perhaps the biggest automotive occurrence of the summer. Built from the ground up with the latest and best Volkswagen technology in mind, they bring about game-changing advances in space, economy, not to mention style.
Prices in Germany have already been announced and in the press films of last week we saw that the Emden factory is already rolling them off the line. The German marketing machines are thus about to jump into action within the next few days and this 1-minute-long clip is a blueprint for what's to come.

Under the tagline "Viel Raum fur Innovation" (Plenty of Room for Innovation), the aim of the Volkswagen promo is to set the mood and convince people the Passat B8 is futuristic, a departure from what the old model offers.

The appearance of the car is key – elegant and clean with a touch of spottiness. According to the Passat microsite, the LED headlights everybody seems to like will actually be standard on Comfortline and Highline models (mid- and high-grade). This is something we didn't know until now, but it's yet unclear if the adaptive systems will also be part of the deal.

Also highlighted in the video is the Front Assist system which automatically brakes the car if it senses an impending collision and can even detect pedestrians at night. The same microsite says Front Assist will be be standard on the same trim levels we mentioned and available as an option on base Trendline cars.

Order books will over on the 10th of July, just three more days from now. Prices for the sedan will start at €25,875, while the more spacious estate will set German customer back from €25,950.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
