The New York Auto Show will open its doors on the 16th of April this year, and with that we'll finally get to see the brand new Nissan Murano. Why "finally"? Because it's the final car in a completely revised lineup of SUV from the Japanese brand. We've loved what they've done to the Pathfinder and Rogue, but the Murano will be like a design flagship, as bold as Power Ranger's costume.
The news comes from Edmunds, who claim the Murano will be a 2015 model year and will ride on the same platform as the Altima and Pathfinder. The publication talked to company spokesman Dan Bedore, who let slip that the ugly CrossCabriolet will be dropped.

Styling will be heavily influenced by the Resonance Concept of last year, with aggressive L-shaped headlights and taillights. The Murano was never a discrete SUV and with the new one they seem to be going all-out. Our own spyshots dated last year show a vehicle that easily rivals any Buick for the size of its grille.

On the powertrain front, a range of familiar units will be in place. The 3.5-liter V6 will be borrowed from the US-made Maxima sedan, but there will also be hybrid system with a four-banger setup as well. European buyers, on the other hand, would be far better tempted out of their hard-earned money by a new four-cylinder dCi diesel engine. For the Japanese market, Nissan recently announced a new 2.0-liter clean diesel which we think will replace the older 2.5-liter. It will have slightly less power but plenty of torque and better fuel economy.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
