All-new Jeep Grand Cherokee Lands in Britain

As part of its global ambitions, Chrysler is bringing its Jeep lineup to the unlikeliest of market. A while back, we reported that the company has big hopes for the Grand Cherokee in Japan of all places. Now, the SUV has landed on cramped British B-roads to deliver an American look and luxury.

The new generation brings significantly lowered emissions and improved fuel economy (up to 39 mpg) with its new turbocharged 3-litre V6 CRD engine, together with an improved interior providing luxury, comfort and enhanced safety.

Despite its rugged, trail-tested off-road capabilities, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is a sophisticated, luxury SUV that Jeep says can be driven on an everyday basis by anyone.

In the UK, the Grand Cherokee is only offered with the Euro 5-compliant V6 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine, unveiled for the European market at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The new CRD engine is more powerful, more fuel efficient and produces lower emissions than its predecessor.

Developed in partnership with Fiat, the V6 puts out 237 bhp at 4,000 rpm and torque of 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) at 1,800-2,800 rpm. The mill gets 34.0 mpg UK on the combined cycle and emits 218 g/km of CO2.

The Grand Cherokee range starts from £36,795 OTR for the 3.0 CRD V6 Limited, while the flagship Overland starts from £43,995 OTR. Optional special paint on all models costs £670 RRP, while prices for the other options are as follows:
  • Rear DVD with single sunroof (Limited)                         £1,700 RRP
  • Rear DVD with single sunroof retrofit (Overland)           £700 RRP
  • CommandView panoramic sunroof (Limited)                 £1,200 RRP
  • Performance pack (Limited)                                           £2,000 RRP
  • Navigation & Luxury pack (Limited)                                £1,500 RRP
  • Deep-tint sunscreen glass (Limited)                               £350 RRP
