The Blue Oval's successful line of medium-duty trucks will be revamped for the 2016 model year. Slated for launch early next year, Ford says that its all-new truck models will provide best-in-class standard horsepower and torque figures.
Depending on the customer's needs, three diesel power levels will be available for the 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750: the entry-level 270 horsepower and 675 lb-ft (915 Nm) variant, the mid-range 300 horsepower and 700 lb-ft (949 Nm), as well as the range-topping 330 horsepower and 982 lb-ft (982 Nm) derivative.

An in-house developed second-gen 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel will take care of sourcing the oomph needed for hauling heavy cargo back and forth. The powerplant is paired to a commercial-grade six-speed TorqShift HD automatic transmission, optimized by Ford engineers for medium-duty vocations. An assuring five-year/250,000-mile powertrain warranty is included.

The new exterior styling is an obvious improvement from the outgoing model aesthetically-wise, while also delivering improved functionality. A great mesh grille framed by hallmark Ford nostrils and a chrome bumper dominate the front fascia of the truck. Sharp fenders, redesigned headlamps and embossed badges complete the exterior look of the American workhorse.

As for the revised interior, features include a 110-volt power outlet, multifunction steering wheel, tech such as the Crew Chief fleet management telematics system and the popular Ford Sync, a rapid-heat supplemental cab heater, remote start and the list goes on. An all-new frame and suspension design includes an anti-roll bar specially developed for enhanced roll control and longer leaf springs for improved ride quality. A choice of hydraulic or air brakes is also offered.

“Every day, we’re thinking of new ways to better serve our hard-working customers,” said John Ruppert, general manager of Ford commercial vehicle sales & marketing. “The same Ford engineers who developed the best-selling F-Series have designed this all-new medium-duty lineup that can meet the demands of our toughest customers with trucks that are cost-effective, ready for work, and, most importantly, can help keep them going on the job.”

Production of the new truck lineup will be shifted from Ford's Escobedo, Mexico facility to the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake. The Blue Oval didn't say anything about prices, but expect the 2016 Ford F-650 to start from $56,000 and the F-750 to hold a sticker price of $70,000. In 2013, the American manufacturer sold 8,682 units of the F-650 and F-750 trucks, up 21 percent compared to the previous year.

The 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks will be available Stateside in the first months of 2015 in Regular Cab, Super Cab and Crew Cab flavor. Customers will also be offered variations such as a straight frame, a dock height and an all-new tractor model for heavy towing applications.
