If you've come here to see the difference between a regular A4 you can buy and the one sold in China, you've come to the wrong place. We can barely see it, but that doesn't mean it's not there.
The Japanese middle class is still growing and remains obsessed with long wheelbases. It's not that everybody is related to Yao Ming, that famous basketball player. No, a long wheelbase is just a way to show respect to your passengers.

Audi was among the first German automakers to offer such a car and has just launched an all-new A4 L that it hopes will take the market by storm.

From one bumper to the other, the 2016 A4 L measures 4.81 meters or 189 inches, riding on a large 2.91-meter (114.5-inch) wheelbase. That makes the space between the wheels 4 centimeters (1.5 inches) longer than the old A4 L and 9 cm (3.5 inches) longer than the 2016 A4 sold elsewhere.

From the vast array available in Europe, Audi took only two units. Both displace two liters and use turbochargers, the basic 2.0 TFSI being rated at 190 PS and joined by a 252 PS model. In both cases, the standard gearbox is an S tronic twin-clutch unit with seven forward speeds. quattro is also going to be an optional feature for those seeking the security of AWD. Just like the European version, the A4 L is lighter than ever, Audi promising a reduction of up to 110 kilograms (242.5 lb) less than its predecessor

After being presented at the Beijing Auto Show this week, the new A4 L will go on sale in China later this summer. Highlights will include the availability of the advanced LED headlights with dynamic cornering functions. The tech-savvy Chinese consumers may also not be able to resist the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit system that shows navigation, entertainment, and other details right in front of the driver.

You have to remember that while the infotainment system looks the same, offering voice commands and dealing with several Chinese dialects must have been a headache for Audi.
