Porsche is probably putting the finishing touches on the press release right now, but it seems most of the press photos for the all-new 2018 Cayenne have leaked online.
It's a real head-scratcher, this king of SUVs. They've been working on it for so many years, yet it looks a lot like the old generation. How will people know you've upgraded?

Let's examine the photos published by Auto Express and see what's what! First of all, some of the similarities between the two generations are understandable. All Porsches need to take hints from the 911, so those curved hips on top of the wheel arches are standard across the range.

At the front, we see a mildly revised version of the old grille, stretching the length of the car. They've added a few creases on the hood, which are probably the only edges on the whole car. The headlights are new and full-LED, but they don't strike you as cutting-edge technology.

"Isn't this just another facelift?" people will say, right until they see the new taillights. They have the same inter-connected design as the Panamera Sport Turismo. From the back, the Cayenne looks a lot more like a hatchback and kind of reminds us of the DS7 Crossback. So we need to congratulate the French for being so avant-garde.

The interior witnesses the biggest changes by far. The steering wheel, center screen, and dashboard all copy the ones seen on the Panamera, which is no bad thing. It's de-cluttered and sexy, but the tan lower dash is a bit old-fashioned for our taste.

The badging just says "Cayenne," so the model in the pictures is equipped with a 3-liter turbocharged V6 making 330 HP and 331 lb-ft (448 Nm) of torque. The Cayenne S will use a smaller displacement engine, the 2.9-liter twin-turbo that delivers 440 HP and 405 lb-ft (548 Nm) of torque.

With the Frankfurt Motor Show debut just around the corner, we're curious to see just how many of the dozen or so versions of Cayenne Porsche will launch. Turbo? Hybrid? Diesel?
