All-New 2017 Yamaha YFZ50 ATV for Kids 6 to 9

Aside the technical prowess of this machine, rider safety is a priority so the Yamaha YFZ50 comes with a host of features that allow adult supervisors to makes sure the chances of injury are reduced to the minimum.

These measures include a throttle screw and rev limiter switch, plus a lanyard that's tied to a kill switch to shut off the engine instantly. Adult supervisors can make various adjustments to tailor the engine response according to the youngsters' riding skills and confidence. From absolute novices to riders who take the first firm steps into the racing world, the 2017 Yamaha YFZ50 has quite a lot to offer.

Compact and agile, the new YFZ50 retains styling cues from its bigger YFZ450R race-winning sibling. The ATV comes with both electric and kick start, with the latter being removable to save weight.

Power comes from a low-maintenance 49cc, SOHC, 2-valve, 4-stroke air-cooled engine mated to a V-belt automatic transmission. Riding the YFZ50 is as simple as twist the throttle and go, with handlebar-mounted brakes. With no gear shifting involved, the young riders will also be able to focus better on learning how to ride and tackle various types of terrain.

The 2017 Yamaha YFZ50 comes with single A-arm front suspension, and a swingarm in the rear, with 60 mm (2.3") and 51 mm (2") wheel travel, respectively, plus two drum front brakes and one in the rear. The wet weight including a full tank (5.8 liters/ 1.5 US gal) and oil is 100 kg (221 lb), and its diminutive dimensions also make it easy to load into a van or even the back of a touring-type car.

Yamaha's new kids' ATV will make appearance in the market in September 2016 in Racing Blue/White livery, but the price is not known at the time of writing. Anyway, the YFZ50 should be on your early Christmas list.
