According to a recent press release from the golden bowtied car manufacturer, the 2015 model year of the Chevrolet Camaro is the last hurrah of the fifth-generation model.
Some reports hint that an all-new Chevrolet Camaro will land Stateside early next year, presumably at the 2015 North American Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan. The sixth-gen Camaro will probably be underpinned by the Alpha platform used by the Cadillac ATS and CTS.
Not much else is known at this moment about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, but there's a high possibility it could be offered as standard with the seven-speed stick shift gearbox of the Chevrolet C7 Corvette. As for the refreshed 2015MY Camaro, not much has changed in terms of performance, aesthetics and equipment, except for the addition of a new exterior paint hue called Blue Velvet Metallic.
Both the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and convertible will be offered in LS, LT and 2LS guise, with a 323 horsepower V6 engine under the hood. Step up a bit and you get the SS, which is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 delivering up to 426 horsepower. A Pro-Am racing-inspired 1LE performance package is available, including unique gearing, retuned suspension and performance tires.
The lineup is completed with the supercharged Camaro ZL1 producing 580 horsepower and the very rare track-focused Z/28, which draws its oomph from a 7.0-liter LS7 mill with 505 horsepower on tap. Chevrolet’s seven-inch color touch radio with MyLink infotainment is also available on LT, SS and ZL1 models, and can be paired to a sat-nav system. Expect the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro to sport similar sticker prices to the outgoing model.
