All-New 2015 Audi TT: Configurator Launched

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show back in March and showcased at numerous venues since then, the new TT Coupe from Audi went on sale today in its home market. An official configurator has also been launched, giving us insight into many of the hard choices buyers will soon face.

The first thing we noticed is how little you actually get as standard. For example, the fancy LED headlights showcased in Geneva are not standard. All TT coupe models come with a Xenon Plus system and can be optioned with full-LED headlights for €1,200 or the famous Matrix LED adaptive system for €2,140.

Unlike the A3 compact family, which is built on the same platform, the TT only has three powertrain choices. The base model has a 230 horsepower 2.0-liter turbo with a 6-speed manual. You can also have a 6-speed S tronic twin-clutch, but only in combination with quattro for the relatively high price of €39,500, €4,500 more than the FWD manual.

The single diesel engine choice comes in the form of the 184 PS 2.0 TDI from the Golf GTD. Once again, Audi limits you to a 6-speed manual and FWD, but the upside is this €35,900 diesel coupe is extremely frugal: combined fuel economy of 4.2 l/100km. And don't for a second think it's slow. With 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds, it's about as fast as a Toyota GT 86.

A total of 10 body colors are available right now, but most of them belong to the gray scale of "non-colors". Non-metallic white or black are offered as standard and the most expensive optional tone is a very reasonable €670. Of course, the Audi Exclusive catalog will allow you more choices if you've got deep pockets.

In the interior department, the new TT does bring a few of very expensive options. The very cool all-digital dash everyone was raving about in Geneva costs €2,500 as part of the "MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch" package. The cool air vents with displays in the middle are another €550, while the premium sound system from Bang & Olugsen costs €850.

We've managed to push the new TT Coupe past €50,000 without too much effort. See if you can do better by visiting the official Audi.de configurator.
