Just like we told you guys yesterday, the brand new Honda City sedan made its official debut today in India.
Honda Car India presented the all-new, fourth generation model at a big event. The car brings fresh styling and increases in size over its predecessor. We think Japanese models could have even more styling added, since this Indian model has no LED lighting, at the front or the back.
The styling as well as the platform is carried over from the new Jazz/Fit hatchback, including “Exciting H Design” and “Solid Wing Face” cues.
For a B-segment affordable sedan, the new City is actually very big. Its wheelbase is 2.6 meters long, matching the Nissan Almera (for india) and surpassing Toyota's Vios sedan. The Civic sedan is only 70mm longer between the wheels. Its boot capacity of 510 liters is also at the top of its class.
As for the engines, the Indian market will benefit from a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which is market-specific. The new unit puts out 100 PS and 200 Nm and is derived from the Euro-spec 1.6-liter DTEC. The other engine available with the car will be a 1.4-liter i-VTEC petrol which makes 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Derived from the old 1.5-liter, this new four-cylinder benefits from friction reduction, reduced consumption and weight thanks to the use of aluminum.
