Alguersuari Tips Toro Rosso for 2011 Success

While the majority of the 2010 newly entrants have set their sights on Scuderia Toro Rosso for the 2011 season of Formula 1, some figures in the paddock believe the Faenza based team will be a tough nut to crack in the upcoming campaign.

After Fernando Alonso himself threw STR into contention for points this season, saying that STR and Renault look like the most improved teams over the winter as compared to 2010, his countryman and current racer for Toro Rosso, Jaime Alguersuari, echoed those comments during the latest test in Barcelona.

I think this year will be much better,” Alguersuari told El Paid newspaper, echoing the voiced of several other F1 commentators and observers, who think that STR might also fight against Renault for championship positions in the constructors classification this year.

My feeling with the new Toro Rosso is very good,” added the Spanish driver, who was classified 19th in the drivers standings last year, while watching his squad rank a poor 9th place in the constructors' race.

We cannot expect to be ahead of Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren,” he insisted, “but we can beat Force India and Sauber. Actually, if we can be between 12th and 14th on the grid and finish the championship ahead of those teams, we would be satisfied,” concluded the Spaniard.

Furthermore, he insisted that he is used to driving under pressure, hinting that he knows very well this will be a decisive year in his career. With Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo knocking on STR's doors, both him and teammate Sebastien Buemi are expected to perform, so he'll have to show his worth at the wheel of the much improved STR6.
