Alguersuari Confirms Toro Rosso Deal for 2010

Not only Spain will have two circuits and one team in the Formula One Championship next season, but it was also confirmed that the aforementioned nation will have at least two drivers representing the red-and-yellow flag in the Great Circle. Teenager Jaime Alguersuari yesterday revealed that he has signed a one-year deal with Toro Rosso for the 2010 season.

The news appeared in the Spanish sports newspaper Marca – actually its online edition – through a questions & answers section. Obviously, the Spanish journalists wanted to know if Jaime will continue his racing career in Formula one next year, so he confirmed the contract with Toro Rosso was signed a few months ago.

The Faenza based outfit has recently confirmed Sebastien Buemi for another year in Formula One, which makes Toro Rosso the 5th team to announce their definitive drivers' lineup for 2010.

Although the team did not confirm Alguersuari at the same time with Buemi, it doesn't come as a shock to anybody that the youngest of the 2009 drivers in the series was finally signed by the Italian team. The outfit's boss Franz Tost recently told the media that he is trustful of his lineup for 2010, as both Buemi and Alguersuari will get to race with a full season of experience behind them (well, only half for Alguersuari).

The Spaniard is yet to make the scoreboard in Formula One, as he competed in only 8 races last season. He climbed at the wheel of the STR4 with no prior testing for his team, as he was called in the eleventh hour by Toro Rosso to replace Sebastien Bourdais. Alguersuari managed to finish his first race in the series ahead of his teammate Buemi, but afterwards recorded no less than 5 DNFs until the season's final chequered flag.
