There are now a handful of Gran Turismo Vision GT concepts available in the game, but there was only one of them that was keeping us on our toes waiting to be unveiled. And that was Alfa Romeo’s upcoming barchetta concept. But sadly, that’s not going to be released anymore.
At least that’s what a report from GT Planet says after some of their readers discovered how Alfa Romeo silently pulled out the concept from the world of GT6. First from the online page and then from the game itself.

As other automakers did before, Alfa Romeo first teased us with a very sexy sketch of a barchetta-bodied designer dream, in two colors of course. But that has been suddenly removed from the Vision GT webpage a couple weeks ago, along with the automaker’s logo.

Update brings more bad news

The final strike came along with the Gran Turismo 6 1.14 update which seems to have removed the project from inside the game’s menu as well. Bummer! What could have pushed Alfa Romeo into abandoning the project?

It’s not like they had to actually build a whole car from scratch. Are they unsure about their future design language, which should have been previewed by this GT Vision concept? Sadly, these questions remain without an answer for the moment.

This is truly disappointing considering the company’s design history, starting with the swooping curves of the 1947 8C 2900B Touring Spider and ending with those of the modern Alfa 8C, a car that should be in an art museum.
